The UH-60 Black Hawk is a medium capacity maneuver and assault helicopter, developed for the army American by the Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation to replace the UH-1 Huey, which had become obsolete. The Black Hawk made its first flight in 1974 and entered active service in 1979. However, due to its high cost, it was not produced in as many numbers as its predecessor, the Huey. The most strategic units were the first to receive this helicopter.
The UH-60 Black Hawk is distinguished by the presence of two large sliding doors on each side of its fuselage, facilitating loading and unloading rapid delivery of troops and equipment. Despite its high cost, it is recognized as a high-quality tactical helicopter, offering excellent flight performance and superior maneuverability. The notoriety of this device was reinforced by the Ridley Scott film "The Black Hawk Down" released in 2001.
