All about the TIGER tank

What is the Tiger tank?

The Tiger I, also the abbreviation of Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger Ausführung E - Sonderkraftfahrzeug 181, is a German battle tank, put into service from 1942 until 1945. It is one of the most famous battle tanks of the Second World War.
This heavy tank has made its mark with its particular dimensions such as its very square lines, its resistance to combat, its power, as well as its experienced crews. It is not without saying that its development was done in 1937 when it appeared on the front in August 1942.
Throughout its career, the Tiger I underwent various modifications to allow the use of certain parts standardized with the Panther and the Königstiger (Tiger II), in order to rationalize the production of spare parts. This simplification of the tank is also the main motivation for the removal of certain devices.

What are the different versions of the Tiger tank?

Discover the type VI E tank, also called PZ.KPFW VI TIGER I which was developed because the German armored forces unexpectedly met the stubborn resistance of the Soviet tanks a few months after the attack on the Soviet Union, in particular the T-34 and the KV-1. The Tiger I was the first tank equipped with an 88 mm gun. The anti-aircraft version of the gun demonstrated excellent air defense and anti-armor capabilities. During the war.
The AUSF.E SD.KFZ.181 model will also delight you with its large scale and its 1/35 scale. This German model was also in service from 1942 to 1945.

Characteristic of the TIGER tank :
Height : 2,88 m
Total length: 8,24 m
Total width: 3,73 m (without mudguard: 3,15 m)
Length of the body : 6,30 m
Ground clearance: 0.47 m

These dimensions make the Tiger easier to spot and easier to hit as a target than other tanks on the battlefield, especially by fighter bombers.
