The twin-engine Fokker F-27 Friendship was designed in the 1950s by the Dutch manufacturer to offer a modern alternative to the old Douglas DC-3s used since the Second World War. It immediately had a good commercial success in civil and military applications and was produced under license also in the United States. The two Rolls-Royce 2,250hp turboprops ensured a maximum speed of 460km/h. The Fokker F-27 was used by many European airlines which also adopted it for long routes. The adoption of turboprop engines has also made it possible to reduce vibrations and considerably increase comfort on board. The aircraft was very versatile and was also used for cargo transport, military troop transport, and maritime and coastal patrols. This kit makes it possible to reproduce a device used for maritime patrol and rescue at sea, in service with the Spanish Navy or the Navy of the Netherlands.

The 1:72 scale is ideal for model planes, military models and figurines. This means that the model is 72 times smaller than the actual object. For example, a model 1:72 scale airplane measures8 inches / 20cm in length if the real object measures 14.4 m (1440 cm). The figurines in the 1:72 scale measure about 1 inch / 2.5cm high.
