It is designed to be assembled and painted by modelers, with fine details, including the fittings. The Torborg is a classic Norwegian boat used primarily as a pilot ship in the Norwegian fjords. This boat could be propelled by oars or by its sails, which allowed it to navigate quickly in often difficult waters. It was particularly useful for joining other boats waiting in the fjords, a task that required speed and agility.
The original model of the Torborg, built in 1870, is now preserved at the Stavanger Maritime Museum in Norway. During its time in service, it was part of the regattas between pilot boats, each trying to cross the fjords in record time. The Torborg’s features, including its sails and 2-3 pairs of oars, allowed it to be competitive and move quickly, making it an ideal choice for pilot missions in this region.
