In 1972 U.S.
President Nixon approved a program to develop a reusable Space Shuttle system.
In the USSR the space shuttle was viewed first of all as a carrier of nuclear weapons.
The Soviet military convinced that U.S.
planned to use the shuttle for a pre-emptive nuclear strike on Russia.
Therefore the USSR needed an analogous capability to maintain the strategic
Scale : 1:144
The 1:144 scale is mainly used for large aircraft models (airliners, bombers, etc.).
A plane in the 1:144 scale is 144 times smaller than the actual aircraft.
For example, if the plane is 60 m long, then the model will measure 1 foot and 5 inches / 41.66 cm in length (6000/144 = 41.66).
