Junkers JU87-B2 Stuka
After the success of the original Black Horse Stuka model with a wingspan of 1.94 meters, it was inevitable that Black Horse would develop a version even larger, perfectly suited to the popular category of 50cc gasoline engines of radio-controlled aircraft.
The structure is made entirely of balsa and plywood, assembled using exclusive factory templates, then covered with printed vinyl. The reinforced fiberglass hood, strong and light, easily conceals most of the engines and their silencers.
Just like its more compact version, it maintains an incredibly faithful silhouette and a remarkable color palette , while displaying an even more efficient wing loading. This gives this model exemplary maneuverability in flight, while giving it a real “presence” in the air. The highly efficient flaps and ailerons provide total control at all speeds, and give it a remarkable ability to resist wingtip stalling, an unexpected feature shared by its smaller version.
Inside these imposing scale fins is a sturdy steel suspension landing gear, ideal for absorbing the irregularities of the terrain typical of model flying fields. In the cockpit, we discover a detailed dashboard as well as an authentic-looking pilot, meticulously painted by hand.
An imposing model that will certainly delight its owner!
In 1935, the first model of the Ju 87, designed by the Junkers firm, took flight. This light ground attack bomber immediately stands out as an exceptional aircraft, especially since it is very well armed. Put to the test during the Spanish Civil War, the Stuka actively participated in the Battle of Britain in 1940, a period where it proved vulnerable if not escorted by more agile fighters.
< br />From 1942, it was deployed to the Eastern Front, where it carried out anti-tank bombing missions. The Junkers Ju 87 notably took part in small offensives during the Battle of Normandy in the summer of 1944.
The Stuka is equipped with a siren which sounds when it dives towards its target. This bomber also represents a psychological weapon, both for the military and for civilian populations.
More than 5,700 examples were built.
