D-Day 75th Anniversary Operation Overlor Gift Set
Early on the morning of June 6th 1944 the combined forces of the Allied armies landed on the Normandy beaches in Northern France in the most ambitious and important operation of the Second World War.
With airborne troops already on the ground and fighting, the sea-borne element of the force began landing.
This phase of the operation was codenamed Neptune and consisted of five invasion beaches, three British and Canadian (Sword, Gold and Juno) and two American beaches (Omaha and Utah).
The landings themselves were preceded both by a powerful air attack and by a fierce naval artillery barrage from a vast armada of ships anchored off-shore.
The majority of the beaches were taken with casualties, but no severe losses, except for Omaha where the American troops were pinned down after the naval bombardment failed to destroy the German defences.
But even this obstacle was overcome and once the beach-heads were secure, Allied troops and equipment were quickly brought ashore, ready to continue on and liberate the occupied countries of Western Europe and ultimately to defeat Germany and win the war.
This collection comes from the Normandy beach-head, with tanks, landing craft, trucks, a gun emplacement, soldiers and a diorama base to enable you to recreate this momentous day.
Airfix Gift Sets are ideal for more advanced modellers and include glue, acrylic paints and brushes.

Scale : 1:76
The 1:76 scale is ideal for military models and figurines. This means that the model is 76 times smaller than the actual object.
For example, a tank model in the 1:76 scale will measure 6.5 inches in length if the real object is 5 m (500 cm).
The figures in the 1:76 scale measure about 1 inch / 2.3 cm.
The 1:76 scale is compatible with the 1:72 scale. .

Looks like solid kit. Not built yet. *
L. JeffSolid period model w/some flash and seam line issues I built one for a diorama w/Tamiya Spitfire. Well detailed truck model with a very nice undercarriage but with some manufacturing issues mostly due to seams on smaller parts being off by a mm or so. Also some of the smaller parts broke easily. That said...it looks great when weathered and in a diorama...I know this is a niche product but props to Airfix for making one. *

About the Airfix brand
Venue of England, Airfix specializes in the manufacture of plastic models available in several themes.
On the market for 80 years now, the Airfix brand has been one of the leaders in modeling in Great Britain. It is none other than the oldest manufacturer of plastic model kits. The British company was founded in 1939 by Nicholas Kove,a Hungarian businessman. In the early days, Airfix only manufactured inflatable rubber toys.
It was not until 1948 that the brand launched into injection molding. The first kit model is an agricultural tractor that is distributed to sales representatives of the Ferguson brand. The first model of miniature aircraft signed Airfix is created in 1953, a kit made of injected polystyrene. The Supermarine Spitfire Mk1 1/72 is the best-selling in the world. The airfix models have been a phenomenal success since the 60s.
Severy categories of models integrate the Airfix catalog, including scale models of cars, trucks, boats and planes. In 1986, the company was acquired by one of its biggest competitors, Heller. As the French firm went into receivership in 2006, the Airfix brand was acquired by Hornby Railways. She then frequents the giants of the toy and leisure sector most appreciated by RC modelingenthusiasts.
Each year, Airfix impresses modeling fans with new featured products and special products. The British brand produces a wide range of kits to satisfy all modeller profiles. The topics presented are varied such as:
