Castlevania is an action-adventure video game series created by Konami in 1986. It became famous for its dark, gothic themes, platform gameplay and complex, mysterious story. Since its inception, the series has seen the release of numerous games and has been adapted into an anime and TV series.

Castlevania games generally follow the same formula: the player takes on the role of a vampire hunter, often a member of the Belmont family, who must traverse a series of levels filled with monsters and traps to face a final boss.
