The Type XXVIIB U-Boat Seehund, nicknamed "Seal", was a midget submarine developed by the German Kriegsmarine towards the end of World War II. By the end of the war, 285 units had been built, and by January 1945, these submarines had taken an active part in combat, carrying out 142 missions and sinking 9 Allied ships.
