The T-6 Texan, known as the "pilot manufacturer" , is a widely used advanced training aircraft, with nearly 15,500 built between 1938 and 1945. Derived from the North American Na-16 prototype and based on the basic BC-1 combat aircraft, the T-6 prepared many pilots for combat. Used during the Korean and Vietnam Wars as a forward air control aircraft, it guided fighter-bombers to their ground targets. During the Algerian War, the French Air Force used it extensively for anti-guerrilla warfare and for basic pilot training. The French Naval Air Force also used it as an advanced training aircraft. This model represents the T-6G "Texan" used by the French Air Force during the Algerian War in 1960.
