No less than 12 countries sent astronauts.

France, for its space agency, Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES) was one of the nations among the most cooperative with sending seven astronauts French to Salyut 7 and Mir from 1982 to 1999.

For its part, the European Space Agency (ESA) sent two astronauts aboard Mir Europe in 1994 and 1995.MF
