Giving birth through water birthing

One of the options on having babies that women have but is not that popular is waterbirthing. This delivery is the kind of delivery where a mother is placed in a tub full of water. And then that is where she will deliver the baby. There are many benefits to this method. And even if it is not that popular more and more women are now undergoing this method. In this article, we are going to talk about the benefits that mothers and babies can get from using this method.

The good thing about this method is that it has a lot of benefits in store for the baby and the mother. As a San Diego licensed midwife I have seen it firsthand.  The benefits to the woman is that the water soothes some of the labor pains. It loosens the muscles resulting to an easier delivery. This will result to a quicker delivery of the baby ad less pain for the mother.

And since it soothes the muscles and eases the pain of the mother during delivery, another benefit mothers and babies would get from this is that no drugs will be used to relieve pain.  A lot of times the waterbirth allows the woman to have the baby naturally. I have seen it a lot of times while having a San Diego waterbirth.  Women who usually had to use drugs to ease the pain of delivery don’t have to.  The water and soothing aspect allows them to withstand the pain. This will be good for motheres who do not want drugs used during the delivery of their babies. This is because they have the fear that drugs used during the delivery will be harmful to the baby’s health.

And the benefits for the baby are as follows. For nine months the baby is in water.By having babies in water will reduce the shock that they will experience as they go out of their mothers’ wombs.  The baby experiences less stress by going into water.Undergoing delivery is stressful enough for the baby.Reducing that shock a little bit will go a long way.  And these waterbirths can be performed by most San Diego midwives. They have the know how in this type of delivery. And as shown it brings a lot of benefits for the mother and the baby as well.

Pregnant mothers and how mdiwives can assist them

When a woman is pregnant there are some choices to be made. They need to choose a doctor. They need to find a suitable hospital where they can give birth to their babies.  And there a few other things. Most women don’t realize that they also have the choice of opting for a natural delivery. That is the method where drugs are not administered during delivery. This method is gaining a lot of following as more and more people become more concerned with their health.  One profession that helps in this area is midwifery.

What is the definiton of midwifery? It is defined as the practice of assisting women to give birth naturally. Of course there are bigger definitions. But this one makes it pretty simple.  As a San Diego licensed midwife that is the job which is to help a woman attempt to deliver naturally.  There are a lot of benefits to this. The main benefit, of course, is the use of no drugs at all during the delivery. And the delivery proceeds faster because there are no drugs administered.  Because most drugs slow down pregnancy.

Women now not just choose to give birth naturally but also opt to give birth at their own homes. They are opting to stay in their houses to give birth to their babies.  This seems a lot more different then people are used to.But it has lot of benefits in store for the babies and the mothers.  As a midwives San Diego I have been able to see these benefits firsthand. The privacy of the place is one benefit a mother can get from this method. There is also no need for surgical procedures because the way of giving birth is natural.

Of course, there will always be objections.  Some say there are safety concerns.  But if it is a low risk pregnancy this shouldn’t be a big factor. But of course it will not be recommended to a mother whose pregnancy is a high-risk one.  In my San Diego midwife practice I always advise my clients to go with the normal delivery in a hospital if it is high risk.So that a doctor can immediately atted to the mother if an emergency arises.

Midwives and the things that people don’t know about them

Midwifery is a profession concerned about the well-being of a pregnant mother. They provide prenatal care and, obviously, they are there when the expectant mothers are giving birth. Postpartum care is also provided by them as well.  In general, midwives are not usually nurses although they can be. But they have rules and regulations and they also have a governing body. But what are the wrong things that people think of midwives and midwifery in general?

In general, the misunderstandings happen for those that do homebirths.  In my practice of helping women as a midwife in San Diego, homebirths are where people get confused.People think that home birthing is an unsafe way of delivering a baby. But if the pregnancy is a low-risk one then this method is very safe.  Midwives do have some medical equipment for emergencies. Most complications are avoided because of the method that they deliver babies.

This is the part where the benefits come in.  As some homebirth midwife San Diego perform their services they do it with a natural delivery. This is the kind of delivery where medicine is not needed or rather, no medicine is administered to help in labor. No medicine is used to ease the pain of birthing. But by not using medicines to help the mother during the delivery the birthing can finish at a faster time.Because most of the women do not know that medication will slow down the delivery.  So by avoiding medication they don’t slow down the delivery.

Plus as some women perform waterbirth deliveries this adds another benefit. From doing water birth in San Diego in my practice the water eases the delivery. The water soothes the muscles of the pregnant mother resulting to an easier delivery of the baby. Plus the baby is birthed in water reducing the shock and stress for the child.

As you can see there are misconceptions about midwives and their profession.  But hopefully you can see that for low risk pregnancies it is safe.  Plus midwives are regulated by a governing body.  So midwives do have to go to extensive schooling.  They understand medical procedures that may be needed. So mothers should not worry about their safety while giving birth since midwives have all the necessary medical equipments for emergency purposes. This can be a viable choice for women with low-riskpregnancies.

Midwifery and the wrong things people think about it

Midwifery is a profession that takes care of expectant mothers. They are there when the mothers are giving birth and they also provide prenatal care. And they also provide postpartum care.Midwives are not nurses but if they choose to, they can be. But they have a governing body so they are being regulated. But what are the wrong things that people think of midwives and midwifery in general?

The misunderstanding stems from the practice of giving birth at home.  In my practice of helping women as a midwife in San Diego, homebirths are where people get confused.  People usually think delivering a baby at home is unsafe. But for low risk pregnancy they are safe.  Midwives do have some medical equipment for emergencies. And since the way they deliver babies is very safe most complications are avoided.

That is where the benefits come in.  As some homebirth midwife San Diego perform their services they do it with a natural delivery. This kind of delivery involves no medicine while birthing.  No medicine is used to help the pain. But not using medication to help ease the pain of birthing is a good thing since it makes the delivery happen faster.Because most of the women do not know that medication will slow down the delivery.  So by avoiding medication they don’t slow down the delivery.

Plus as some women perform waterbirth deliveries this adds another benefit. From doing water birth in San Diego in my practice the water eases the delivery.  The water actually soothes the muscles and allows easer delivery.

They have knowledge of medical procedures that is required in taking care of a pregnant woman.  So safety should not be of concern since they also have medical emergency equipment. This can be a viable choice for women with low-riskpregnancies.

The safety of a homebirth

One of the things that women can choose when having a baby is how they will deliver the baby. What I’m trying to say when I said how they deliver is where do they want to give birth-in the hospital or at their homes. Most women don’t know that they have a choice on how to deliver their babies because they think that giving birth at their own homes is dangerous. But of course there are those who doubt the safety of this method. But if they just research and look for studies about this method then they will realize that there a lot of evidence that this method is safe.

The safety of a homebirth is definitely questioned.  From my observations from my practice as a midwife in San Diego I have found it to be absolutely safe. I have witnessed 300 homebirths and I can say that the dangers are just the same either you deliver a baby at home or at the hospital.Having a baby in the hospital or at home doesn’t make any difference in minimizing those risks. On the ohter hand, the risks also would not increase because of this.

So what are the risks of doing this method?  Well for one people worry if some complications occur.  They say the people who administer the homebirth usually aren’t nurses.  Well as a midwives San Diego we do know medical procedures. We have all the required medical equipment for all the common complications that appear when giving birth. It is but natural that any serious complications that would arise during birthing should be addressed by a doctor. But that is not far from what happens in a hospital.

Now of course homebirths are only suggested for women who have low risk pregnancies.  If a woman is found to have possible complications any good midwife would not encourage this method.  This is standard procedure for all licensed midwife in San Diego. The reason as to why is because midwives have a limited medical practice and they cannot do all the things that a doctor can do.That is why they do not do homebirth if the pregnancy is high risk and they make sure that it would be delivered in the hospital.

For those against having a baby at home it will be hard to convince them otherwise.  But for those women who see this as an alternative they should understand it is safe.
