Are Golf Shoes Essential for the Beginner Golfer?

As you probably know, there are shoes for virtually each sport possible.  There are only a few sports that do not have a special shoe that is planned to improve the way you play while using them.  Yet many folks cannot afford to always purchase all of the extra sports equipment like shoes that are needed.  Many beginner golfers often wonder if it is really necessary to purchase golfing shoes in order to really play golf.  In trying to balance cash considerations with safety concerns there are a couple of things that you must keep in mind.

You Can’t Use Golf Shoes Away From The Golf Course

Your prime concern should be your skill level.  A newbie usually can’t justify the expense to buy golfing shoes.  They are certainly not inexpensive, and since they are only worn while on the golf course they have a very limited usage outside the golf course.  While basketball and tennis shoes can be worn in different situations, the golf shoes must stay on the golf course to avoid damaging them, or the flooring on which you are walking across.

The Importance of Comfortable Golf Shoes

If you’re a very talented golfer or maybe have a tendency to play quite frequently you might need to buy a good pair of golf shoes.  Typically investing in golf shoes will need you to get a pair of  shoes that you are basically thoroughly snug wearing.  You must remember that many golf courses need you to do a lot of walking so you need something that fits comfortably.  Something with lots of cushioning as well as a good fit is essential.

Golf Course Rules Concerning Golf Shoes

You need to also contact the golfing courses where you plan on playing.  There are some who need golf shoes for you to play.  While this could appear like a bit of a killjoy if you weren’t planning to buy golfing shoes at first, the golf course requiring the shoes is a safety consideration to make sure that you do not slip and fall while you are swinging your club.  A good pair of golfing shoes has spikes that dig into the ground a bit while you are standing which will provide a bit of extra traction and make sure that you aren’t slipping the first time you swing the club.

Golf Shoe Styles

Taking your time to go looking for golf shoes is a very wise idea.  There are dozens if not hundreds of different colors so sometimes selecting the best color that you like could be a bit of a hard decision.  In addition, not all shoes are created similarly.  The shoe that is best for your foot may not be best for some other person.  Also, there are countless different styles that you can choose from, as well as all the different brands, materials and prices.

The Benefits of Good Golf Shoes

Even for a golf beginner, choosing the right shoes to play in will make sure that you are comfy, as well as have the grip you need while playing.  If you are playing a lot of golf, you will quickly see how a good pair of golfing shoes can do wonders to help enhance your comfort level as well as your game of golf.  Never underestimate the ability of  a pair of shoes to significantly boost your general performance during a game.  Taking the time to really try on many pairs of shoes will make sure your last choice is durable as well as comfy in a colour and style that you like and enjoy using.

15 Top Tips on Golf Swing Techniques

Golf swing tips can be found on-line or you can purchase one of the golf swing instructional e-books. Many of these tips on golf swing techniques go into a lot of detail; at times, too much detail. If you have a swing fault, what you need are a few basic golf swing tips - whether it is to learn more about the short game in golf or to fix a slice.

5 Tips on How to Achieve More Golf Distance

To be able to shoot lower scores, one of the best ways is to gain more golf distance off the tee. When you have a shorter distance to the green you have more chance to score par or better. Naturally, you need accuracy as well as distance or you will be in a worse position to reach the green. Here are 5 quick and easy tips to help you drive long off the tee:

(1) Position the ball off your leading foot’s instep and tee the ball up higher so that you hit the ball on the up-swing; (2) Resist trying to hit the ball with all your might - instead, use a steady rhythm and work on increasing your swing speed gradually; (3) Use the correct shaft flex for your swing speed - use a flexible shaft if you have a lower swing speed (stiffer for faster swing speed); (4) Cock your wrists early on the back-swing and release them just before impacting the ball; (5) On the backswing, turn your shoulders a full 90 degrees for maximum distance off the tee.

5 Tips on How to Master The Golf Irons

How to master golf irons is a subject that is often ignored. There are lots of help available to improve your drives and general golf game but not much help specifically for your golf iron play. With these 5 tips you will learn to dominate your golf irons:

(1) Practice on the driving range to know your average distance with each golf iron in your bag; (2) Use the right iron for the distance you want to hit it and use a full swing; (3) Take into account the wind strength and distance as well as other factors like height and slopes; (4) Playing from the rough is different from playing from the fairway - you will need to adjust the ball position, stance, iron loft, and attack angle; (5) Learn proper course management - going for the pin is sometimes not the best option.

5 Tips on How to Improve The Golf Short Game

One of the most important areas of the golf game is the golf short game. If you are able to hit long and accurate drives, that is great, but if you can’t chip or pitch the ball on the green, all that effort will be wasted. The short game of golf is where you really need to put more practice time into, so check out the 5 tips below:

(1) From under 50 yards, use a bump and run and get the ball rolling as soon as possible; (2) Use a slightly open stance and place your feet closer together; (3) Choose one club (7, 8, or 9 iron) and practice your chipping from different distances with it; (4) The length of your backswing will determine the distance the ball will travel; (5) When playing over a hazard, use a more lofted club with a pitching swing.

The three areas of the game that these tips above cover are important, but there are other areas that you will need to learn. They are putting, sand trap or bunker play, pitching, and learning how to cure a slice or a hook (if you have on of those swing faults.). As golf is an all round game, you have to be proficient in every aspect of the game to succeed. Don’t just concentrate on how to be a long driver; instead practice with every club in your golf bag.

Great Outdoor Winter Activities - All Cost Less Than

Snowboarding and skiing are the popular choices for outdoor winter activities, however, there are other great activities to participate in too. Snowshoeing, skating and tobogganing are just as enjoyable, whilst being significantly more affordable.

Most people have already experienced the exhilarating buzz of shooting down the side of a hill whilst gripping tightly to a toboggan, but have not renewed the experience since they were in their early teens. There is no reason to see it as just kids fun though- lots of winter sports resorts now have areas dedicated to tobogganing. It is a great way for adults and children to spend time together having fun. So far as cost goes, there are plenty of plastic toboggans in stores priced at under $10, and that is literally all you need.

Most winter resorts have a dedicated ice ring, or a lake nearby that has frozen over with thick ice. You can learn the skills in less than an hour, and you will be doing spins and tricks in just half a day. Skates can be purchased from stores that sell sports equipment, for around $20-30, and are a particularly good investment as you can use them throughout the year at local ice rings as well.

Many winter resorts have snowshoeing trails for your enjoyment. Why do you need snowshoes to participate? Because strapping on a pair makes walking down and around snowy areas a lot easier, and you can therefore stay out for longer and take in a greater range of scenery. While if you purchase your own pair of snowshoes it will cost you about $150-200, it is possible to rent a pair at most resorts for much less - just $15-20 per day.

So, this winter, do not let money worries stop you from having fun in the snow!

Learn How To Skydive In A Single Weekend

Skydiving is popular because people love the feeling of freedom and the adrenaline rush that it gives. Few other activities even get near to skydiving in terms of the buzz and excitement that it provides.

Should you not yet have tried skydiving, then you genuinely are missing out. It is a very accessible sport though, so if skydiving interests you, then there is nothing stopping you from trying it out. If skydiving is of interest to you, but you want to know more about it before committing yourself, then continue reading…

When you first exit the plane whilst skydiving, the resistance of the air is far outweighed by the force of gravity, and this causes you to rapidly accelerate downwards. After you pull your parachute cord, and your main canopy releases and fills with air, you will then begin decelerating due to the sudden increase in air resistance, and you will float down at about 10 mph, which is a perfectly safe speed to land at.

The risks involved when you go skydiving (parachutes not working, equipment malfunctioning, collisions, etc.) are relatively low, with only about 1 jump in every 100,000 leading to a fatality, but it is important to be alert and safety conscious at all times. The weather is something to be particularly aware of though, and you should not skydive in any adverse (windy or stormy) conditions.

If you are constantly aware as to what is going on, then you are in a position to prevent any minor issue becoming serious. A good piece of advice is to never relax until you have two feet safely on the ground - only then are you 100% safe.

Depending on the type of skydiving that you want to do - Tandem, Static Line, AFF (accelerated free fall) - you may spend between 1-8 hours in training, which will cover: how the body and parachute work together (essentially basic physics); how to use the various pieces of skydiving equipment; how to safely exit the plane; the various falling / flying techniques that can be implemented; how to make a safe landing.

Learn To Snowboard

You can learn the basics of snowboarding in a day or two, but there sufficient styles and techniques to hold your interest for years.

The main snowboarding styles are alpine, freestyle and freeride. Freeride snowboarding involves riding down a mountain, taking advantage of the landscape’s bumps and curves. Freestyle snowboarding focuses on tricks and special skills, with spins and jumps being good examples. Alpine is a style not unlike skiing, as it emphasizes building up speed and making sharp turns. If you are not sure which style to choose, starting withe freeride is advisable, as it is the easiest to pick up the basics of the sport with.

There are two different stances snowboarding stances that can chosen from. In the regular stance, which is most popular, the left foot goes in front of the right. In the goofy stance, your right foot goes in front of your left foot. Both will be shown to you by your instructor early on whilst showing you how to snowboard and it is totally up to you as to which one you make your primary stance.

Unlike skiers, who must shift their weight from left to right to left, snowboarders shift their weight from heel to toe. In this respect, snowboarding is similar to skateboarding or surfing. By shifting your weight forward, the board goes downhill or speeds up. By shifting your weight backward, the board slows down. By digging your heels down, you will stop, as the edge of the snowboard will drag and get caught up in the snow.

There are three different types of snowboards available: freeride, freestyle, and alpine boards. Each is manufactured uniquely in relation to size, shape and materials. The type of board you ride should correspond to your preferred style of snowboarding, your height (when standing on end, the board should reach between your nose and chin), your shoe size and your weight (heavier riders need a board with a stiffer flex).

Snowboard boots and bindings are essential to connect yourself securely and comfortably to your snowboard. The higher the quality of the ones you get, the easier it will be to control your board.

It is advisable to borrow or rent equipment prior to buying any to ensure that you both like the sport and get items that are suited to the particular style of snowboarding that you will mostly be participating in. Equipment and clothing can be expensive, so it can be costly to make the wrong choices.
