Calm Music- It’s All About The Right Source

Calming Music

We all live in a world where the pace of life has increasingly become fast and often stressful. This is probably why more and more people are searching for calm music. If you can’t seem to hit on the perfect soothing tune yet, you might want to check these great sources.

The internet should be the first place to visit because this is where you’ll find anything. It gets even better because there are a number of tracks online that can be downloaded at no cost. You should be cautious though. There are items that are clearly marked free but always remember that not everything you download is actually free.

There are a lot of high quality free pieces but most of them can’t be had in their entirety. You should really settle for paid tracks if you want long pieces to listen to. Since relaxing calm music has grown in popularity, there are now many composers who zero in exclusively on generating this kind of music. You therefore have a lot of great options to pick from.

There are also a couple of online stores that don’t necessarily sell tunes exclusively but might still have a couple of good CDs that you can order. Internet stores that sell soothing tunes often specialize in selling materials or providing information related to meditation, yoga or relaxation. Obviously, since CDs with the appropriate tracks are an integral part of relaxation, these stores can sell them too. Meditation or yoga portals that don’t sell CDs or downloadable tunes might have recommendations that you could check out.

Obviously, you shouldn’t discount possible offline sources of calm music. Even before the internet was born, there were brick and mortar stores that already sold music for chilling out. Buying from them is a great way to get some exercise as you let your feet do the shopping through rows of CDs. Go straight to the jazz or classical sections for cool CDs.

The instrumental section of a store is also worth checking and may even provide better options. Many prefer instrumental relaxing calm music because these don’t come with lyrics. This is an important feature to settle for because words in a song can actually be suggestive so even if the beat is slow, you may still be unable to relax because of the negative message of a song. You can also increase your sense of relaxation if you pick tunes played using the piano, guitar or flute. These instruments have sound qualities that typically mimic nature.

You might also consider getting soothing sounds from nature. The sound of birds and water are only some examples of naturally soothing sounds. Although these don’t strictly fit under the category of musical compositions, many individuals consider nature’s sounds to be quite melodic. You can record these sounds when you’re on a nature trip and play them back whenever you need some chill out time from the stresses of the day.

You just can’t underestimate the importance of calm music like solo piano music on your mental and psychological well being. There’s simply no excuse to get swallowed up by stress because all the right tunes are available in many different sources.

9 - Sweet Home Alabama - Lynyrd Skynyrd

The guitar riff at the beginning of Sweet Home Alabama is as memorable as anything that’s every been played on the radio. It’s easy enough to figure out but fun enough to play that beginners absolutely love it. Whether you learn it on electric or acoustic guitar this song sounds great.

Take the time to figure out how to play the intro picking portion and then connect it with the chords for the chorus and the verse.

8 - Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple

Another classic riff during the intro of this song makes it another memorable tune. While the band Deep Purple did have quite a few hits none were as popular as Smoke on the Water.

7 - Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton

This is a newer song on the list, but a great acoustic tune to learn. He wrote the song about the sudden loss of his four year old son in 1991, but has since stopped performing the song in more recent years.

This is a classic tune to learn on acoustic guitar. It takes a bit of patience and practice to play it properly but it’s worth the time.

6 - Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison

3 - Hotel California - The Eagles

This song is still on classic rock stations daily and sounds great on your own or jamming with a friend. There is more then one guitar part in the song so depending on your current skill level you could learn just the chords or also take a stab at the great lead part and solo.

2 - Wonder Wall - Oasis

This might seem crazy to some of you by Oasis’s Wonder Wall was a classic acoustic tune from the early nineties. It’s still going strong with beginners thanks to it’s unique chord progression and catchy melody. If you can sing and play at the same time this one is a must.
